If you come to study Italian by the sea in Trapani, the Intensive Group Course will be the heart of your learning experience, made up of many shared moments, inside and outside the school.
Foreign students come to Scuola Virgilio from all over the world, with a variety of backgrounds and age groups, but what unites all of them is the same passion for the Italian language that animates us too.
Upon your arrival, you will find a warm welcome and a smile from all the staff: the director, the secretariat and the native language teachers. Once in the classroom, the informal style will make you feel immediately at ease, even if your level of Italian is not particularly advanced.
The typical day of a student on the Intensive Italian Group Course begins with the lesson in class: between structured conversation, a few games and a little (but not too much!) grammar, every day you develop your learning of the language and build your vocabulary… and in the meantime you will also get to know your classmates better and better. The relaxed atmosphere and the small number of students for each class is the secret: it helps you to forge friendships that often last even beyond the period of your holiday in Trapani.
However, what makes the intensive group course an unforgettable experience is what happens outside the classroom… Trapani offers various opportunities for recreation after lessons and at weekends, so students meet for a sunny afternoon on the beach or a walk at sunset or a trip to the outlying islands. The School itself also arranges a variety of free extra activities, such as guided walks through the historic centre of Trapani and an aperitif where students can practise their language skills in an informal setting with our native Italian teachers.
In addition, every week the secretariat proposes a program of free or paid activities organised by the school or its partners, including meetings with local artisans, tastings of Sicilian wines or street foods and gastronomic experiences such as “food walks”, homestay dinners and cooking classes.
Finally, whether you are interested in archeology or attracted by the beauty of unspoilt nature, or art or music lover, the city has enough to make your visit unforgettable, including excursions, art exhibitions and gigs. And, of course, for opera lovers there are the open-air concerts in the historic garden of Villa Margherita, right in front of the Scuola Virgilio. In a nutshell, every day of your stay in Trapani you will be able to experience firsthand all the richness of Italian culture and the charm of “La Dolce Vita” Sicilian style. Nobody does it better!
The Intensive Group Courses take place for more than eight consecutive months from March to November.
